Ipsy Glam Bag| January 2014

My loves,

I came home last week to a lovely package from Ipsy! It’s always exciting opening these packages to see what new beauty products I get to try. This months Ipsy Glam Bag called ‘19 Reasons to make it an amazing new year.’ I wasn’t overly excited about my pickings but wasn’t disappointed either. There were 20 products in total, the Ipsy team carefully selected 5 products for each Ipsy Member based on your Ipsy profile. From the selection of products I think mine were pretty good!

Glam Bag Products:

Absolute!| Makeup Cleansing Tissue (10 Tissues) – $2.49

“Pre-moistened, refreshingly fragranced, water-based cloths designed to instantly remove even waterproof makeup without irritation. Infused with natural extracts and botanicals, Absolute! Makeup Cleansing Tissues are formulated to reawaken and soften skin, while helping to reduce puffiness. Made of delicate spun lace, our convenient, effortless 1-step tissues are gentle enough for use on sensitive skin and around the eye area.”

IMG_1494I always enjoy makeup cleansing tissues. They are great to have in my kit as a makeup artist for when people show up with makeup on and I need a quick removal. They are also great to throw in your gym bag if you prefer to work out with no makeup on or want to remove the sweat and dirt from face right away. Let’s face it sometimes we get lazy and don’t want to properly cleanse our face, these are great as a replacement every now and then. I got the scent of pomegranate which isn’t my favorite scent but doesn’t smell bad. If I were to buy these I think I would pick up a more neutral scent they offer like cucumber or green tea. These makeup cleansing tissues remove most of my makeup and are gentle on the skin.

Sexy Hair| Healthy Sexy Hair Soy Tri-Wheat Leave in Conditioner (50 ml) – Full Size (250ml) $17.95

“The Sexy Hair Healthy Sexy Hair Soy Tri-Wheat Leave In Conditioner is a powerful combination of Soy and Cocoa work synergistically to perfectly care for your hair! A conditioner that is both a nourishing moisturizer and mild protein reconstructor and safe to use on color-treated hair. This truly amazing conditioner reconstructs, moisturizes and combats environmental stress on all types of hair.”

IMG_1519My hair gets ridiculously tangled when I come out of the shower, it literally takes me about 20 minutes to brush it sometimes. Needless to say when I saw this lovely leave-in conditioner I was more than thrilled. It smells great, helps me brush my hair with ease and leaves my hair softer and smoother.

LeeAnni Eco| 3 in 1 Revolution (0.35oz) – Full Size (4.0 fl oz) $29.98

“With this 3 in 1 Revolotion, it’s a toner, serum, and lotion in one bottle! Helps moisturize, even out skin tone by reducing scarring and promoting skin regeneration. Gluten free.”

IMG_1523I really enjoyed this product. It doesn’t really have much of a scent which I love, I don’t like when my moisturizers have a strong smell to them. It absorbed into my skin immediately leaving it glowing. I’m sure if I would buy this only because the moisturizer and toner I used I really quite enjoy(One Love Organics Skin Savior and LUSH Tea Tree Water Toner). However it’s good quality and isn’t overly priced.

Elizabeth Mott| Smooth Shadow Full Size $14.99

“The ultimate gel pencil that’s smooth like butter and packed with deliciously creamy colors. These velvety pencils glide on with ease, and contain just enough shimmer. They’re also waterproof and perfect to wear all day and night, a must have for all color lovers! Use a cosmetics sharpener for best results.”

IMG_1531 IMG_1536This product is great because it really does last. After I did the swatch on my wrist I tried to wipe it off and it literally didn’t budge. I’m excited to actually try it on my eyelids. Not sure if I like the colour, it might be nice to use as lower lash liner. I don’t think I would use it on my eyelids. Quality of the smooth shadow is really great though. I would have preferred to have received the other colour option they had called ‘Pearl’.

MicaBeauty| Tinted Lip Balm (2.5g) – Full Size (4g) $30.00

“MicaBeauty’s 24 hour Tinted Lip Balm conditions your lips without smudge while delivering sophisticated finish. For a sheer wash of color, one swipe is all you need. For a bolder pout, simply apply another swipe and this lip balm will create lips every woman covets. Kiss-proof and smudge-proof!”

IMG_1525 IMG_1529I loved the shade I got sent and I actually over-all really liked the product. However, I don’t like that it’s called a lip balm because it dries out the lips like crazy. It should be called a lip stain. I would never wear it on it’s own, I would definitely put a gloss on over top. Although I like the shade and the product itself I would never purchase this product. For a Tinted Lip Balm it’s pretty expensive and I hate the full packaging, it’s so awkward.

Overall it was really fun trying these products this month, lots of variety and I will definitely make use out of these products.

What did you think of these products this month?

Laurelle, xo
