Maybelline| Baby Lips-Dr.Rescue

My loves,

I’m so behind on reviewing Baby Lips from Maybelline it’s not even funny. I know that it’s been on the market for quite some time now, but I have heard so much about it that I obviously had to try it! I don’t know if any of you have caught on yet but I have a slight obsession with lip balm and I love trying new ones. This one claims to medicate and add some colour so it definitely intrigued me.

Maybelline New York Baby Lips Dr. Rescue Medicated Lip Balm is a formulation of the Baby Lips formula which contains eucalyptus to heal chapped and sore lips. They are available in six shades and are supposedly a “medicated care” formula with a natural tint with a formula that provides 12 hours of hydration.

Medicated care + 12 HR hydration.
Soothes quickly with a hint of eucalyptus.
Cools sore lips with a touch of icy menthol.
In 6 new natural tints to even out lip tone for healthier-looking lips.”

Why You’ll Love It

Medicated care soothes sore lips and combats dryness
In 6 New natural tints
In 1 minute, lips feel soothed.*
In 1 day, lips look more smooth.*
In 1 week, lips are renewed*

These lip balms have a strong menthol/eucalyptus fragrance that I’m not a huge fan of. It’s also a strong cooling sensation on the lips which I’m also not keen on. If you do not like Vicks do not even bother trying these balms because that’s exactly what it reminds me of.

Okay, so these Baby Lips-Dr.Rescue claim to make your lips feel soothed, look more smooth and actually renew the lips. I have to say I was a little disappointed with Baby Lips. Sure it’s a nice tingley minty feeling on the lips, but it just sits on top of the lips. It doesn’t absorb and it does not make your lips feel hydrated. I mean if I had nothing to use and my lips were in need of something I would use these, but would I seek them out and buy them over and over again definitely not. I’ve tried far better lip balm than these. Your lips absolutely do not look more smooth in a day, let alone a week. Therefore, I don’t really consider my lips being renewed. I tried these out for about two weeks and I’ve already switched over to other lip balms that I know.

I really truly wanted to love these lip balms because the packaging is so adorable and they offer some colour instead of clear boring lip balm. I bought the ‘Too Cool’ clear shade as well as the ‘Just Peachy’ light pinky shade and I found that because my lips were chapped the pink looked flaky and chalky. A lip stick would actually look better.

IMG_1370There is a lot of hype about Baby Lips and I know a lot of people have really said that they love Baby Lips, it’s just not for me. To me it’s an over glorified lip balm that has marketed itself really well and also has cute packaging. It’s smart really, create a lip balm with different neutral shades. You get colour and hydration. However you don’t really get improvement in moisture and the colour doesn’t look great when your lips are chapped. I need a lip balm that absorbs into my skin and makes my lips feel and look hydrated.

Have your tried Maybelline New York Baby Lips Dr.Rescue? What are your thoughts?

Laurelle, xo

  1. OMG – I feel the SAME way! I thought it was just me since everyone is/was raving about them. I feel like they did nothing – if not make my lips worse. I’ll gradually use mine up but the formulation for the original baby lips didn’t work like magic either. My holy grail is still the Jack Black lip balms.

  2. Hey, So go0d to have balm which renew ur lips after a week 🙂
    Thanks for reviewing
