Hipster B-Day Bash

My loves,

It’s always difficult to think of an awesome theme for a party! My birthday just passed and I wanted to throw a party with a unique theme. I love themed parties. I find people let loose a little more, friends get really into it and it usually turns out to be a great night. There is the typical 80’s themed party, The Great Gatsy Themed Party (specifically popular this year), 60’s themed parties etc. I have thrown a Mustache party which was pretty epic, but why not throw a Hipster Party!

19Now how do you throw the most epic Hipster Party someone ever did throw you ask? I will tell you.

This is what you will need:

  • an empty picture frame (glass and picture removed)
  • lots of Mustache’s
  • props for lots of picture-taking (hats, lips, glasses, ties etc.)
  • an EPIC over the top HIPSTER outfit
  • pretentious over-sized wide framed glasses
  • perhaps a toque
  • carrots and humus
  • a bunch of friends that know how to have a good time
  • and booze of course
  • jello shots (but really you should have these at every party obviously)

So here’s what I did… I bought a cheap picture from Homesense and removed the picture and the glass (be careful removing the glass because I totally sliced my finger opened). I then went out and bought props from Urban Outfitters, it includes lots of cutouts of lips, ties, hats, glasses and various mustache’s. I grabbed all my fun hats, glasses and head bands. I took a white bed sheet and draped it over some furniture. And Voila you have a photo booth set up at your party!

IMG_1838 IMG_1860 IMG_1883 IMG_1889 IMG_1939 IMG_1944I mean doesn’t it look like so much fun? It really really was so much fun! The photo booth was definitely the highlight of the party.

Now I know it can be difficult to know what exactly ‘Hipster’ clothing would be. And you want it to be pretty epic of course and way out there. The best stores to find your proper ‘Hipster’ wear include: Urban Outfitters, American Apparel, Forever 21 (which is where my whole outfit is from), and H&M. There are many different types of clothing you have to choose from.

Josephmark-Illustration-PocketHipster-LowRes-1I also took it upon myself to put Mustache’s on all my pictures throughout my house, including all mirrors! I then proceeded to draw Mustache’s on all the party cups I purchased for the evening.

IMG_1965 IMG_1841 IMG_1842My lovely sister was kind enough to make Red Velvet Cupcakes, my biggest weakness of all time! I seriously love Red Velvet Cupcakes! And she also made lovely Madeline pastries.

IMG_1851IMG_1928As I mentioned previously my entire outfit was purchased from Forever 21, with the exception of the glasses which I got from Urban Outfitters. A crop top and high-waisted patterned is what I opted for! And I actually really love the outfit, I think I will be wearing it again in the future!

This was honestly the best party I have ever had and I couldn’t ask for better friends. The photo booth is a fun idea because it ensures that you are going to have great pictures to remember the party by after! I will definitely have a photo booth set up again at future parties.
