HILARY MACMILLAN| FALL FASHION WEEK

My loves,

A couple of weeks ago my friend and I attended the HILARY MACMILLAN Fall Runway Show. I love everything fashion so I was super excited when my girlfriend invited me to attend. HILARY MACMILLAN is a Toronto based designer, believe me you are going to want to remember that name! Her Fall/Winter 2014 Collection is absolutely beautiful! All styles are very classy and elegant and they are even wearable! A little bit about HILARY MACMILLAN:

“Hilary MacMillan is a Toronto based womenswear designer. Her self-titled brand was founded early 2012 with a focus on creating wearable designs for the urban modern woman. She creates effortless style with the aesthetics of flattering silhouettes, and modern femininity with a retro feeling. The use of colour and prints is a design stable seen consistently throughout her seasons.”

Maybelline New York was there offering manicures, as well as a bottle of polish if you took a selfie of yourself and posted in on Instagram with various tags! Here is our Maybelline New York Selfie.

A very interesting and fun fact; remember when I blogged about the oh so lovely Elle Hardware on Queen West? Well my friends Hilary MacMillan is actually the sister of Lindsay MacMillan who owes Elle Hardware! Both very talented woman and they definitely have incredible fashion and style sense. I just love that they work so closely together and in the same industry. Both kind, lovely people as well.

Lucky enough my friend and I ended up getting bumped up to one of the front rows which was incredibly exciting! And in the front row was a little treat for us.

So adorable, I just love it! Once settled in our front row seats we got to enjoy the show! Here are some of my favorite pieces!

“Hilary is inspired by different design movements throughout history, and pulls a lot of inspiration from the changing styles throughout the decades. “Those decades in history were about investing in key signature pieces and not our current climate of ‘throw away fashion’, which happens too often these days.” Women invested in key pieces, which lasted decades. Her appreciation of well-designed signature pieces inspires many of her collections, creating pieces that last more than a season.”

IMG_6578 IMG_6582 IMG_6589 IMG_6590 IMG_6591 IMG_6593Hilary MacMillan found most of her inspiration for her Fall/Winter 2014 Collection while traveling to the North of Scotland where pheasant hunting is a romanticized tradition. Much of her collection is inspired by the colouring of the pheasant bird; rich blues, reds and winter whites.

I absolutely love that plaid, patterns and textures seems to be the trend for the Fall/Winter Collections of 2014. I absolutely love how beautifully tailored all her clothing is and the styles flow so well together looking both causal and elegant. I will definitely be keeping my eye on this lovely designer.

Much of Hilary MacMillan’s clothing can be found at Elle Hardware which is Queen West in Toronto. Hilary is a Toronto based Canadian designer, all her clothing is designed, sourced and manufactured in Canada.
